Whipple House Museum
Collection Description:
The Whipple House was built in 1837 by Obadiah Smith and was occupied by five generations of the same family for 133 years. In 1970, Dr. George Hoyt Whipple, of the fourth generation of the family, generously gave his boyhood home to the Town of Ashland to be preserved and used as an local historical museum. Boyhood home of Dr. George H. Whipple, only NH naive to receive Nobel Prize in Medicine (1934) His home was occupied by the Smith-Whipple family from 1835-1971. Includes furnishings, photographs, personal items belonging to the family.
