Old Society Land
Collection Description:
Prior to Bennington, New Hampshire becoming incorporated on December 15, 1842 the area was known as Old Society Land. These two volumes are a collection of type and hand written compilation of information from 1620-1945 put together by John A Fleming, Mrs John Bryer, Mr. and Mrs J.P. Weston, Miss Frieda Edwards, Miss Grace Taylor, and Mr. Henry W. Wilson.These volumes contain the only records still in existence by the Town about Old Society Land prior to being incorporated into the Town of Bennington and genealogical notes about the families that lived here during that time.
